インド・チェンナイ郊外の町に滞在(6/26～7/2)。松山福音センターの万代牧師に同行して、やっと念願の地に来ることができた。日本人はまず私たちだけ。観光ではなく、教会や貧しい家庭を訪問し、20年間サポートしてきた孤児院の子供たちに衣類、文房具、楽器、お菓子等を直接プレゼントするため。子供たちの笑顔は嬉しいし、貧しい人々との交流や歓迎は温かく胸に響く。

I am currently staying in a town on the outskirts of Chennai, India. I accompanied Pastor Mandai from Japan and was able to come to this long-awaited place. We were the only Japanese people in this town. We are not here for sightseeing, but to visit churches and poor families, and to give clothes, stationery, musical instruments, sweets, etc. to children in orphanages. The smiles of the children make me happy, and the warmth of the interaction and welcome with the poor touches my heart. Asian Kids Care sincerely hopes that peace and happiness will come to children all over the world.

インドは世界最大の人口14億の国、貧富の差はどんどん広がり、カーストで固定化された職業からなかなかはい出せない厳しい現実も。私たちのできることで今後も支援活動に関わりたい。そして「ナンディー(タミール語・ありがとう)」と皆さんに伝えたい。アジアキッズケアは、世界中の子供たちに平和と幸せが訪れることを心から願っています。

Although we are the world’s largest country with a population of 1.4 billion, and there is the harsh reality of the gap between rich and poor and the caste system, we would like to continue to be involved in support activities in any way we can. And we would like to convey “Nandi” (Tamil for “thank you”) to everyone. Asian Kids Care sincerely hopes that peace and happiness will come to children all over the world. May God bless you.
