今年度最初の荷造りボランティア。4/20(日)にフィリピン・ミンダナオ島の子供に届ける支援物資を持ち寄り梱包作業。高校・大学生や社会人も参加し、衣類・文具・楽器・バッグ・靴等を入れた3箱(150kg)を日本からまごころを込めて贈ります。

若い参加者に参加理由を問うと、「海外の困っている子供の役に立ちたい」「将来、外国に行って国際協力に携わりたい」「自分のできることを通して社会貢献したい」等の返答がありました。

On Sunday, April 20th, Asian Kids Care volunteers in Japan will deliver three boxes of relief supplies to children on Mindanao Island in the Philippines. The participants packed clothes, stationery, musical instruments, bags, shoes, etc. with love and sincerity.

When I asked the young participants why they participated, they answered, “I want to help children in need overseas,” “I want to go abroad in the future and be involved in international cooperation,” “I want to contribute to society through what I can do,” etc.

先頃までフィリピンの子供支援に携わっていた和田牧師から、マニラにおける貧困の現状についてレクチャー。

ゴミ山での過酷な生活、麻薬・犯罪・殺人等が蔓延る反社会的環境の中で、子供の精神はどんどん蝕まれていく。自分のできることの限界を感じながらも、子供たちに「あなたは価値ある存在、自分を愛して大切に」、「I love you」等を一生懸命にハグして伝え、心的・物的支援に全力で取り組んだとのこと。参加者は子供の臓器売買等の現実にショックを受けながらも、自分自身の生活環境と重ね合わせグローバルな視点で貧困問題を考える良い機会になったようです。

Pastor Wada, who has been involved in child support in Manila, Philippines until recently, gave a lecture on the current state of poverty. Children’s minds are eroded in the harsh life on the garbage dump and in the anti-social environment where drugs, crime, murder, etc. are rampant. Even though he felt his own limitations, he tried his best to tell the children, “You are valuable, love and cherish yourself,” “I love you,” etc., and worked hard to provide mental and material support. It seemed to be a good opportunity for the participants to think about poverty issues from a global perspective.

この後みんなで協力しフィリピンの子供の笑顔と幸せを願いながら、私たちのできる支援活動を実践しました。

After this, everyone worked together to put into practice support activities, hoping for the smiles and happiness of Filipino children.
